Seeking / Dealing with a recent ND Diagnosis Group Appointment Online
This is a 45-minute appointment for up to 4 students with one of our Student Learning Developers. The session will start with some taught input on diagnostic assessments and their benefits whilst studying at ULaw. Students will then be able to ask specific questions, followed by a group discussion.
This group appointment may be of value to you if you would like to discuss the benefits of undertaking a diagnostic assessment for conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, AD[H]D, and autism spectrum condition. As a group, we will be respectful and compassionate when listening to the groups experience of neurodiversity and the questions raised. We strongly recommend not disclosing sensitive information in this session, please book a one-to-one appointment with Adam Devine or Ruth Le Duc instead. The main purpose of this appointment is to provide an overview of diagnostic assessments and how they can support your studies here at ULaw.
FAQs
How many students will be in my group appointment?
Any number from one to four.
How long is the appointment?
As with a standard 1-2-1 study skills appointment, the slot is for up to 45 minutes.
Where do the group appointments take place?
All group appointments take place online on Blackboard Collaborate.
Apart from the number of students, what is the difference between a 1-2-1 appointment and a small group appointment?
A group appointment is more structured than an individual appointment, and there is some taught input at the start of the session, followed by Q & A and discussion. If you want to discuss a very personal issue, or you have complex requirements, then an individual appointment might be more suitable for you.
Why might I book a small group appointment rather than a 1-2-1 or a drop in?
- You might be able to book yourself onto a small group appointment more quickly than a 1-2-1
- You might want the opportunity to talk about your issues with fellow students as well as a Student Learning Developer; this could give you useful additional perspectives
- You might want a bit of structured input on the topic at the start of the session to help put your issue in context
